Cookie policy

Cookie policy.

The site sets no statistics cookies until you accept them. We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.

What a cookie is

A small file your browser stores when you visit a site, used to remember a preference or to measure, in aggregate, how the site is used.

Cookies we use

Necessary: your consent preference (ecc_consent, stored in your browser for twelve months) and, on the internal development view, an access key. These need no consent. Statistics: Google Analytics 4 (_ga and _ga_* cookies, up to fourteen months), which you can accept or decline in the notice; they measure page views, referrers and events such as pressing Donate, without identifying you. Advertising: none.

How to decide

On your first visit a notice offers two equal choices: accept statistics or decline. With Google Consent Mode v2, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland everything stays denied until you accept; elsewhere anonymous statistics stay on until you decline. Advertising signals are denied everywhere. You can change your decision at any time from the Cookies link in the footer or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Legal basis

Costa Rica's Law 8968 (informed consent, article 5), Directive 2002/58/EC and the GDPR for EU residents, the CCPA/CPRA for California.
